6 Days Marrakech to Erg Chebbi

Day 1 Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate :

Your tour begins right at your hotel where one of our representative will pick you up. The first part of this trip will take you to Ouarzazate. On the way, we will cross the Atlas mountains by the surprising Tizi n’Tichka port, which is 2,260 meters of height. Shortly after crossing the Atlas, we will drive towards the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an incredible fortified city of more than 800 years old. You will have some free time to visit the site. This place is well known as movies like Gladiator and the Kingdom of Heaven have been filmed there. At the end of your visit, we will drive a short distance to Ouarzazate, where you can visit the film studios or what we call Hollywood of Africa, since it’s has been as well a very famous destination for filmmakers. Ouarzazate is your first overnight stop.

Day 2 Ouarzazate – Agdez – valley Draa of – Tazarine – Gorges of Mharech (hint of Dakar):

After breakfast, you will get to visit the Taourirt Kasbah. We will continue the journey in the direction of Zagora, crossing the mountains of the Anti Atlas and passing through the port of Tizi n Tinifift, which is 1,600 meters of height. We will show you the Draa Valley, where we will see various Berber villages and visit some kasbahs. Leaving behind the people of N’kob, Tarazine and Alnif, we will take another road that crosses ghost towns until arriving at the Throats of Mharech. Many of these roads are being used in the Dakar Rally. We will end this day sleeping in a Riad in the heart of the country.

Day 3 – Oasis Ramlia Mharech – Dunes of Ouzina – Merzouga :

Continuing along the racetrack of the Dakar Rally, we will get to meet more local people, cross the dry channels of the Wadis, admire oasis and see the dunes of Ouzina. Continuing the road, we will visit the well-known people of Khamlia, descended from slaves who arrived from Africa. You will be able to enjoy its amazing folkloric music as well. Following Khamlia we will take the road in the direction of Erg Chebbi, the highest dunes and most impressive desert of Morocco. You will spend the night at the Albergui.

Day 4 Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga :

This part of the trip takes you to another road that has been used in the “Paris-Dakar Rally”. We will visit nomads of the desert and have some tea with them. The oasis of the desert that was used to shoot “Sahara”, a movie starring Penelope Cruz, will be righ at your feet. Another visit will follow, the ‘black” village. This village was called after Sudan’s slave trade. After luch, it’s time for the unforgettable! It’s time to ride the dromedaries into the desert to contemplate an epic sunset. Tonight will be special as we get to sleep in the dunes of the desert, in nomadics tents (jaimas), just like the Berbers do. Dinner will be served, accompagnied by some great music and a starry sky like you’ve never seen before.

Day 5 Merzourga – Rissani – the Todra gorge – valley of Dades :

We will get up early to live the experience of dawn and sunrise directly on the sand dunes. We will nicely ride the dromaderies back to your hotel where it will be possible to shower and get ready for a new day. Departure towards Rissani, the origin of the Alawite dynasty (the first imperial city of Morocco) is next! We will then take the road in the direction of Erfoud, a village rich in black stones and marine fossils (if you want, you can stop at a factory of fossils) and arrive to the Palmeral of Tafilalet. We will visit the gorges of the Todra and we will arrive at the Valley of Dades, where we will spend the fourth night.

Day 6 valley of Dades – valley of Roses – Skoura – Marrakech :

Leaving behind the Dades valley by the route of the “Thousand Kasbahs”, we will pass by the surprising Roses valley, before arriving to the Palmeral of Skoura, where you will find the most famous Kasbah in the area. From this point we will begin the path to return to Marrakesh. We will have time to grab food on the way! This will mark the end of the route with us!
